About River Rats

River Rats is an informal and friendly organization whose members are drawn together by a love of sailing and the charm of the picturesque Navesink River. The Club is run and maintained entirely by its members, resulting in a close spirit of cooperation and camaraderie.

River Rats offers affordable training programs for adults and children. Over the past 50 years, theclub has successfully promoted interest and safe training in aquatic activities for over 4,000 children. To sustain an affordable junior training program, River Rats relies in member time and your donations. (To learn about donating to River Rats, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, click here )

In addition to the training programs, River Rats maintains an active social program. There are racing series for its members, as well as invitational regattas for other sailing clubs. River Rats is a member of US Sailing and the North Jersey Yacht Racing Association.

The 3 primary goals of River Rats are:

  1. To promote aquatic activities among children and their families.
  2. To provide training that stresses safety.
  3. To provide facilities for accomplishing these goals.
