River Rats (also known as the Fair Haven Sailing Club) is an educational non-profit organization dedicated to sailing: individual sailing, training & family fun. We are located on the beautiful Navesink River in Fair Haven, New Jersey.
River Rats offers affordable training programs for adults and children as well as access and use of club boats, dock, and moorings. In addition, River Rats maintains an active social program. There are racing series for its members, as well as invitational regattas for other sailing clubs. River Rats is a member of US Sailing and the North Jersey Yacht Racing Association.
The 3 primary goals of River Rats are:
1. To promote aquatic activities among children and their families.
2. To provide training that stresses safety.
3. To provide facilities for accomplishing these goals.
River Rats is an informal and friendly organization whose members are drawn together by a love of sailing and the charm of our picturesque river. The Club is run and maintained entirely by its members, resulting in a close spirit of cooperation and camaraderie. (To learn about the history click here.)
